What People Say

These are actual comments from our families.

Many thanks for the wonderful work that you do! My granddaughter has been accepted to college- something that would never have happened without your organization. I will continue to support you however I am able for the rest of my life!

"Parent/teacher conferences at my son's school always left me with a feeling of sadness and actual fear for the future and what it would mean for my son.  He was reading below grade level, and as the kids were getting older, the gap was beginning to grow.  I knew he was smart, but it's hard to convince a kid he's smart when he sees all of his friends making great strides and he's struggling so hard.  Then came the Dyslexia Center.  Fast forward a year and a half....I recently attended a parent/teacher conference and was told that my son is now reading at grade level and is not hesitant to raise his hand to answer questions or even to read aloud.  That says it all!
The Children's Dyslexia Center has been a blessing to our family. Everyone involved in this wonderful program  does a great job to make the children feel welcome and proud of their progress.  The fact that my son does not complain about having to get off the bus after school, jump into the car and drive 35 minutes each way twice a week to get to the Center for his tutoring session speaks volumes   He knows how valuable these lessons are and he knows he is where he is now because he was lucky enough to get into this program.
We cannot thank you enough for this opportunity and for all of the hard work that goes into teaching these kids that they can do it!".

"I am extremely impressed with the overall professionalism, expertise and positive attitude at the Center.  Their impact on the lives they serve is immeasurable."

"I cannot express my gratitude to the Learning Center.  My daughter is now on grade level and no longer has an IEP.  I am so proud of my daughter for attending the Center for two years.  Louise and all of the staff go above and beyond for the students at the center.  Thank you!!"

"My son has become more confident with himself in many situations because of this program.  He always leaves the center smiling and with a great attitude.
I am very thankful for the Children's Dyslexia Center of Rhode Island. "

"My daughter started attending the Center when she was in fourth grade.  It was in first grade that she was diagnosed with dyslexia and was given an IEP to help her receive school-based programs.  Her dad and I knew she needed more.  The center was highly recommended by my mother who works in the school system.
I can vividly remember the day I received the phone call that she had been accepted into the program.  I was ecstatic!  I knew there were highly trained people who could help her learn how to read and comprehend what she was reading.  I can remember the first day she walked in.  She was so nervous and anxious about what was going to happen.  The staff was extremely kind and understood this was a huge commitment for a child and their parents.  The teachers always made her feel special as if this was her place to shine.  She was ON board from day one.
I watched her have more confidence in herself as the two years went by.  I can attest that the Center had so much to do with that.  She attended for two years and never once complained about the tutoring that took place twice a week.  She was a great learner and they knew the approach that would work best with her.  She actually now enjoys reading and loves to read to her younger siblings.
My entire family is so grateful for the Center and plan on being continual supporters of it.  We want every child to succeed like our daughter.  Thanks to ALL of the wonderful teachers at the Center."
